In the secondary forest site, relative abundance has declined from 1989 to 1999.  In the primary forest site, relative abundance was stable.

The decline in secondary forest was probably due to poor survivorship of chicks, although an increase in poaching of adults may have had an effect.

The question is whether the decline is part of a general trend or indicates a cyclic pattern of population dynamics.
